We’re thrilled to be playing at several great festivals this Spring/ Summer. Starting with Llyn Arts Festival in Wales, Eden Festival Scotland early June, where we’ll be busy in the Workshops space and with samba dance, carnival drumming workshops and a children’s show. In July you can catch us at the Eisteddfod in Llangollen, and The Folk Forest, Sheffield. In August we’re at Broadstairs Folk Week, where we’ll be playing a show plus delivering some workshops!
The Big Malarkey Festival is a fantastic Children’s Literature Festival; “expect to hear and see and get involved with writers, poets, musicians, artists, a time-traveller, puppets and more”. We’re involved with the Schools programme, delivering a session on music and storytelling, plus an Early Years storytelling session , along with the fabulous Polly Ives based on the children’s story “Giraffes Can’t Dance” . At the weekend you can catch us doing a “Concerteenies” session with Polly Ives, with all sorts of music, bubble machines, hats and more, plus our own “Nonsense” Session for families; expect lots of fun and nonsense!
We’ve recently been into a local primary school delivering music and dance workshops to children in Key Stage 1 in preparation for their International Week; we had a fantastic day with lots of very engaged children! We covered songs in French and Spanish, flamenco dancing, charleston, the Mexican Hat Dance plus enthusiastic joining in with percussion and vocals on various songs!
Later this term we’ll be in another couple of schools, both of which have told us what they’d like us to cover so we’ve designed workshops especially for them. We’ll be covering samba, Carnival, The Romans, thematic Curriculum topics including Geography and History, plus body percussion and singing! Please see our workshops page for more info ( www.mambojambo.co.uk/workshops ) and get in touch if you’re interested!
Here we are in a Primary School delivering a session on Water And The Sea to Year 4. We all sang this Sea Shanty in a performance at the end of the day.
We were thrilled to have been invited to play in Switzerland, and had a fantastic reception for our concert in Neuchatel at the Salon du Cafe Bleu. Next up, “La Route Du Rhum”, a Festival to celebrate the single handed transatlantic boat race between France and Guadeloupe!
